Jacksonville, FL – October 20, 2014

On Saturday, October 18th R2 Logistics’ associates from the Jacksonville operations branch and headquarters joined the 20th annual North Florida Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Around 6,000 people showed up at Metropolitan Park Saturday morning to raise awareness for breast cancer.

Komen North Florida is all about education. Doctors said the chances of beating breast cancer are exponentially higher when it’s caught early. “We use these funds in many cases to help educate women to get screening mammograms, as well as help fund some women to get screening mammograms who otherwise couldn’t afford it,” said Dr. Ankit Desai, Florida Plastic Surgery Group. “If we can do that, we can get women to have detection of breast cancer at an earlier stage and have a significantly better chance for a cure.”

R2 associates participating in the 5K Race for the Cure were Jeanette Adkins, Shannon Heaton, Marcia Myers, Jonathan Schussler, Jared Fowkes, Louis Droit, Stacey Whitkop, Thao Ngo and Georgina Sloat.
