Jacksonville, FL – July 26, 2012

On Wednesday, July 25th, R2 Logistics sponsored the American Red Cross Guns-N-Hoses Blood Drive held in the parking lot of their Columbus, Ohio operations office building. The drive looked for individuals to answer the call and give blood in honor of fire and police department officials.

Commenting on the need for the event was Jennifer Birtler-Clark, Senior Donor Recruitment Representative for the American Red Cross. She stated, “Central Ohio hospitals demand at least 800 units of blood every day, and summer is a high trauma time that leads to spikes in patient utilization. Blood drives like this and many others compound the potential for shortages while blood collections plummet.”

R2 Logistics had several individuals donate for the blood drive.  R2 associates included Branch Manager – Matt Elsass; Human Resources Manager – Chris Gase; National Salesmen – Jon Adams and Kyle Webb; and Logistics Coordinators – Brian Woolum, Erik Castle, Rick Gulvas, Zach Sanders, and Adam Carlson.
(Erik Castle is prepped for his donation.)

“The last time I gave blood was 11 years ago and it wasn’t a pleasant experience,” recalled Chris Gase. “I was very nervous to give again, but the staff with the blood mobile was very comforting and the entire process was painless. It’s an awesome feeling to know you have the ability to save lives at the small cost of an hour of your time.”
