Jacksonville, FL – April 29, 2013

On Saturday, April 27th R2 Logistics’ associates volunteered for the Jacksonville Backyard BBQ Championships at EverBank Field. The event is a fundraiser for the Glyn Cook Memorial Scholarship for the Daniel Kids Foundation. The foundation serves more than 1,000 children and their families every day through a variety of innovative and nationally-recognized programs, and the scholarship is awarded to formerly homeless Daniel kids who are attending college.

Fifty-five teams competed in the cook-off for the title of “BBQ King of Jacksonville.” Certified and celebrity judges scored chicken, ribs and pork entries to determine the winners. Among this year’s celebrity judges included Jaguar players Jason Babin and Will Rackley.

R2 associates aided in the event by overseeing two inflatable games; an obstacle course and a bungee run. They also had a chance to sample and judge the competing BBQ entries for themselves. R2 associates included Corey Morris, Corey Proffitt, Joe Hastedt, Kim Nguyen, Brandi Hollstein, and Jeff Schroeder. “I really wanted to volunteer and give back to a good foundation,” said Brandi Hollstein. “Saturday was a great afternoon to get out into the community right along with fellow coworkers and give back to our future generations!”
