Jacksonville, FL – October 13, 2014

On Sunday, October 12th R2 Logistics’ associates from the Phoenix operations branch joined the 22nd annual Phoenix Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Around 13,000 people showed up at Cesar Chavez Plaza in downtown Phoenix Sunday morning to take a stand against breast cancer. The event, which featured participatory activities for all skill levels including a one-mile walk/run as well as a 5K run for both activists and survivors, raised more than $1 million for the organization.

Of the funds raised, 75 percent will benefit cancer education, programs, and screenings in Northern and Central Arizona, while 25 percent will directly support cancer research.

R2 associates enjoying the festivities of race day were Brian Parks, Josh Rhoades, Andrew Fleet, Evan Mayernik and Matt Morales. Overall, organizers of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure were pleased with the turnout. “Planning the Race and seeing its full fruition on Sunday was a remarkable experience,” says race manager Zachary Singh in a press release. “You can feel the care and passion so strongly from the community when you see them on Race day. There’s nothing quite like the spirit at the finish line.”
