R2 TEAM AIDS IN BIKE MS
Jacksonville, FL – October 1, 2012
On Sunday, September 30th, members of the R2 Logistics Jacksonville branches volunteered their time for the Bike MS event at the St. Augustine Airport. The goal of the event is to raise awareness and funds to help create a world free of MS; Multiple Sclerosis, a chronic, often disabling disease that affects the body’s central nervous system.
The ride is a two day event and covers 150 miles as participants ride from St. Augustine to Daytona Beach on the first day, and then ride back to St. Augustine the second day. Donations raised for the event benefit the North Florida Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and its mission. Over 2,000 cyclists took part in the event and raised over $730,000.
Members from R2 included Brandi Hollstein and her husband Bob, Corey Morris, Houston Leach, Jeff Schroeder, Jerry Gase and his wife Sally, Kate Robbins, and Susan Sandberg. Volunteer duties handled and completed by these individuals included event setup, food prep and serve, hydration station, and traffic direction.
Brandi Hollstein whose cousin was recently diagnosed with MS said she volunteered to show support not only for her cousin, but also for others who are affected by the disease. “I was truly surprised by the large turnout of volunteers, supporters and participants for the event!” she stated. “It was encouraging to see and be a part of this outreach.”
